Hello everyone!
I just got back from Lake Lure, North Carolina!
I was doing a wedding there at Rumbling Bald Resort!
If you have never been there before, I have to tell you that it has the most breathtaking views! Simply amazing in all its glory, the mountains are unspoiled by man. Homes scattered around this lake respect the environment they were placed in and most leave their surroundings untouched as nature intended it to be. As you look around the lake, you can see a canoe here and a tiny dock there, all tucked in, as if trying to hide.
I toured this lake when I first took the hour and a half ride from Charlotte to assess the brides and grooms chosen venue. I was taken by first sight. And am already setting plans on returning again and again!
Lake Lure is a quaint town tucked away in the pleats of this mountain range. Beautiful and breathtaking in its own right, its simple charm alone invites you in, begs you to stay and you constantly feel the pull of your heartstrings, finding yourself dreaming of living here in this serene setting untouched by time.
Creating this wedding was personal. This was my brother’s wedding. He has always been my biggest floral fan and married a girl who I cannot love enough as she loves my brother more than I can even try to measure. She fits well into the sarcastic silly banter of this crazy loving family. They are perfect together and we are thrilled to have her be a part of our growing family.
I was grateful to work with some wonderful people at the resort itself who gave up a large space for me and my girls (who I could not have pulled this off without!) to work in and allowed me to rearrange their cooler to accommodate the tremendous amount of flowers over a “pre” 4 day period to design this wedding. Buckets of Hydrangeas, Callas, Roses, Stars of Bethlehem, Alstromeria, Cymbidium Orchids, Dandrobium Orchids, Freesia, Fuji Pomps, and more overflowed one whole side of the space and no one complained. Each and every one of these employees at the resort deservers an honorable mention!
I have only one picture to share right now as my orders piled up while I was gone. I would really like to share more images with you and will add them when as time allows.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!
Susan
Below is Delaney, the flower girl. She is one awesome trooper. At the moment this picture was taken, the rain taunted us and we were uncertain if we could put the flowers at the gazebo. The chairs were set up on the terrace where the reception was going to be and we waited to see if it would clear enough to move them. Either she was bored or pleasantly relaxed looking out at the light rain on the lake, I will never know, but she never complained as she loved twirling in that dress! She understood her part and took it very seriously! She was the "flower girl" after all!
